Who says that you can't have toys and resources that are both sustainable and super fun and bright as well?! There are so many gorgeous, colourful and fun play resources and activities out there, we wanted to share just a few of our favourites with you. And, of course, they're all made by inspiring, independent businesses!

Fine motor activities

The Little Coach House are one of my favourite UK based small businesses making toys and learning resources for children. Their products are fun and engaging for children but also look beautiful displayed on a shelf in a playroom or bedroom when not in use (win win!). Their stunning Rainbow Fine Motor Board comes in two different sizes and is a gorgeous tool to use along side play dough, rice, felt balls or pom poms while children work on their fine motor skills.

Loose part play

Grapat are an incredible small business who are passionate about sustainability and child led play at their core. Although they offer a huge range and variety of products, the mandala sets are our absolute favourites and get used in one way or another every single day. My children use them with their toy kitchen, to create small world scenes, designing patterns and, of course, with their play dough.

Stacking rainbow

Grimm's beautiful stacking rainbows really are iconic. Yes, they do come with a hefty price tag but they are truly a work of art and are as appealing to a young baby as they are to an adult and everyone else in between. I bought this 12 piece rainbow for my niece's first birthday present and the poor girl couldn't get a look in as my brother, dad and I all played with it! Toddlers can start by stacking, sorting and building, and as they get older the pieces become cradles for dolls, fences, tunnels, bridges, marble runs and amazing sculptures.

Timeless toys

Mader make beautiful, timeless toys. Think yoyos, spinning tops, kleidescopes and skipping ropes. All hand crafted in Austria and painted with gorgeous, bright rainbow stripes.

Sensory play

Well, I couldn't really write a whole blog posts about sustainable, brightly coloured, open ended resources for children without mentioning our play dough could I?!

Play dough is a fantastic and incredibly versatile resource. It helps to build and strengthen small hand and finger muscles, encourages creativity, promotes play time and can also be incredibly calming.

Play dough is well known world wide but what makes ours different is the fact that it is all handmade in small batches at home using natural, food grade ingredients and packed up in packaging that is free from plastic and that can be reused and recycled.

You now can shop our new range of super bright, fruity scented rainbow play dough tins here.
